Education plays a key role in a society It is the medium through which individuals learn many of the languageconceptsand other skills that are indispensable in a modern societyIt also supplements the family’s role in socializing the young people into the values and norm s of a society. Educational levels also affect various business functions A high level of illiteracy suggests the use of visual aids rather than printed manualsif technology is marketedthe product sophistication will depend on the educational level of future users.

Pakistan is a country where 73.8 of the population is illiterateso it is unlikely to be a good market for popular booksalso promotional material

containing written descriptions is unlikely to have an effect in that countryIt is far better to use pictorial promotions

Another important aspect of education is its role as a determinant of national competitive advantage The leader of this area of research has been Michael Porter of HarvardAs he states

With a long tradition of respect for education that borders on reverenceJapan possessed a large pool of literateeducatedand increasingly skilled human resources…Japan has benefited from a large pool of trained engineersJapanese universities graduate many more engineers per capita than in the United States…Primary and secondary education is highly competitive…Japanese education provides most students al over Japan with a sound education for later education and trainingA Japanese high school graduate knows as much about math as most American college graduates.

Porter’s point is that Japan’s excellent education system was an important factor explaining the country’s postwar economic success

4.Conclusion

From what we discussed abovewe can conclude that there is a link between successful global business and cultural awareness and sensitivityand a lack of cross-cultural understanding and adaptation in marketing and product development can only lead to the loss of market shareand cost the companies a great deal of moneytimeand embarrassment
